JOHN OFFENBACH TURNS 50

How do you mark your 50th birthday? John Offenbach spent the day chasing his fifties in various parts of London. At one point John goes to Kings Cross, London’s new architectural destination, and takes 50 photographs.

You can see the selfie video he made of his day on Vimeo here –

Here are some highlights from the 50 photographs.

Here are a few images from the private view last Thursday. Please visit Rich’s page of my website to view the entire collection.

CLIVE BOOTH HAS JUST COMPLETED A 4K FILM FOR HOUSE OF HOLLAND

Clive has just finished his editing of a 4k film, that he had directed on behalf of House of Holland and Canon cameras. The film, one of the first of its type in such a super high resolution format (4 times the resolution of HD), was shot entirely on the Canon C500 in collaboration with Codex.
Clive predicts that this format will become increasingly attractive to companies wishing to show their product in an incredibly realistic form at the point of sale.

CLIVE BOOTH PHOTOGRAPHS TERENCE STAMP

Clive was sitting in  a cafe in Soho when he noticed Terence Stamp sitting at another table. Ever resourceful, Clive approached him and asked if he could take his portrait. Terence said yes and the following day at 11:00 they met at the cafe and started the session.

This is a really good example to illustrate that to be a successful photographer, what you chose to photograph combined with having the drive and wherewithall to do achieve that desire, is as important as the way you decide to shoot it.

It is the holy trinity of photography : what to shoot, how to shoot it, edit.

More photographs of Terence Stamp can be found on Clive’s website:   http://clivebooth.com/terence-stamp/

ANOTHER BREAKFAST FOLIO SHOWING

Great to be invited again to Ogilvy & Mather. Brigette Martin was our host this time. We had a great time and were well received. A three hour drive from West London to the City – yes, three hours but worth it once we were there and saw the reception the guys’ work received. Thanks O&M.

RICH HARDCASTLE WORKS AGAIN WITH KARL PILKINGTON (click on thumb nails)

Rich has worked with Karl Pilkington before, covering the “Idiot Abroad” series. The picture of Karl in the Fez is from that show.

He has now just finished shooting pictures for use on the front and back covers on Karl’s new book called “The Moaning Of Life”.

Rich obviously has a penchant for collaborating with and taking pictures of comedians. Most of the images you see on his section of my site are his concepts and are of comics.

But then Rich is a very funny man.

JOHN OFFENBACH’S ICELAND LANDSCAPES (click on thumb nails)

John has just returned from taking pictures of the landscape in Iceland.

I have seen many images of Iceland’s landscapes before (normally, predictably their glaciers and the Geysir), but John has brought back landscapes of utter beauty, that range from having a sense of serenity and stillness, to thunderous pre-historic power and energy. A combination that I imagine would be hard find in many other locations.

The more serene are shown here. Go to his section on my web site to see others.

The question is, if these landscapes have been sitting there for centuries how come they have not been captured like this before?

The answer is that John Offenbach has only just shot them.

FOLIO SHOWING AT ADAM AND EVE DDB

Another mass folio showing to all the creatives, this time at Adam and Eve DDB. A lot turned up for the breakfast showing and a bonus for me was to meet up with Carolyn Henry again after many years – really good to see her again. Also lovely to see Amy Pope (I love her) and Hulya Corty for the first time – very nice girl.

I really  enjoy this type of showing.

RICH HARDCASTLE’S 5th IMAGE IN THE NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY

The National Portrait Gallery have acquired this shot, taken by Rich Hardcastle, of Idris Alba for their permanent collection.

This is the 5th permanent image of Rich’s chosen to feature in the gallery.

It is also one of several current collaborations between Rich and Idris, including acting as DOP for Idris during his directorial debut for a music video, so watch this space!

RICH HARDCASTLE DOCUMENTS BO BRUCE

After shooting stills of a teaser video last year, Rich and Bo decided it’d be fun for Rich to follow her for the year.

He has been documenting Bo’s ascent to fame, photographing her in the studio, at promo events, performing live gigs and even getting tattooed. With Bo’s UK tour starting later in the year there will be plenty more to see. For now, here is a sneak peek.
